Naturally Handcrafted

About Me

I am a wife to my best friend; a mother to my precious little bug; and a lawyer, who holds a full-time job. Becoming a mother was the single most significant event in my life. It beat passing the bar exam by a country mile. When I held my little girl for the first time, I promised her that I will do all that I can to care, protect, and love her.

My baby has extremely sensitive skin, and does not tolerate store-bought products. That’s not surprising. Have you ever read what’s in a store-bought lotion or body wash? I don’t blame companies for listing the ingredients in ultra-tiny fonts. After I researched and learned more about the common ingredients in these commercial products, I knew I had to find another way to care for my baby’s skin. My solution: create my own body care products at home, using only natural ingredients, without preservatives or synthetic materials.

I started NaturallyHandcrafted.com because I believe that I can handcraft beauty and body care products that are better for me, my family and the environment than those available on the market. I scour the internet, DIY and natural living blogs, libraries and books to find the best and easiest recipes. I try out and tweak the recipes, then share my experience and newfound knowledge on this blog. I hope people who share the same interest will try my recipes and provide the community with their feedback and suggestions that build on or improve on what I post.

Join the community by dropping me a line, commenting on posts or reply to others’ comments. There are multiple ways we can share and grow our knowledge as a community. Who needs store-bought products and their harsh chemicals, questionable preservatives and synthetic smell, when we can create what we need, want and love ourselves, using natural ingredients, right in our own home. Perfecting one product at a time, we will replace all of our store-bought beauty and body care products with those we handcraft naturally.

Hello, I recently visited your site and would like to receive email about your recipes for lipgloss etc. I tried to subscribe but said my email was invalid. So I couldn’t subscribe. So I don’t know why it is saying it is invalid. I would love to receive email from you about recipes etc,….how can we fix this? Sincerely Loretta Bair

I love your products and sharing how to do it instead of just selling it, now that is a gift sharing your knowledge and willing to tell how and what each of the products you use. I want to incorporate my own product into my social work practice, I have already created this atmosphere of not only providing therapy but taking care of the mind body and soul as one. I have started many modalities one can get when working with me such as TaiChi for pain and arthritis, reflexology, and many others. And reading your Blog just gave me an idea of making bath bombs and other products to assist in the wellness of individuals.

Have you ever tried salt instead of sugar for cup cake bath bomb icing?

Hi Shere, I think your question relates to my bath bomb cupcake recipe. To make the frosting, you’ll need to use powdered sugar. I had tried using salt, but it didn’t work. I think it’s because salt is more dense than sugar. But if you know a way to use salt instead of sugar to make the frosting, I’m all ears.

I tried the body lotion/balm and a couple of the soaps. I truly see a difference with my skin. The ingredients and oil used really leave my skin feeling very smooth. The soap does not make my skin feel dry as other regular ones do.
