Hi, this is Marylou. I made the oatmeal honey salt bars, and I have a question?? I do have a problem with the scent and aroma. I put scented essential oil in the soap, but the aroma didn’t come through the soap. I had purchased my essential oils from websites. Can it be because of the quality of the essential oil is not good? Please help.
Thank you for reaching out! Adding essential oil to cold process soap is very tricky, because much of the essential oil doesn’t remain in the cold process soap. You really need to add a large amount of essential oil for the scent to come through the soap. Because of this, I don’t usually add essential oil to cold process soap. My oatmeal honey salt bar and other cold process soap recipes don’t include essential oil.
If you want a very fragrant cold process soap, you might consider using fragrant oil, which are laboratory created synthetic scents. I don’t use them, because they are not natural ingredients. Also, you might consider making hot process soap, and add essential oil after the soap is fully cooked. The essential oil aroma sticks around much better in hot process soap. Finally, the quality of the essential oil matters. The potency of essential oil changes with quality, and decreases with time. So even if you’re using pure essential oil, you want to make sure it’s from a fresh bottle that wasn’t open a long time ago. Please reach out if you have more questions.
Looks Awesome hope I can go back and find the ingredients list
Thank you, Cindy! Here is the post on how to make the Activated Charcoal Detox Bars. It includes an ingredient list.
Your products look amazing. I have skin problems facial I look forward to visiting your website more in the near future.
Unfortunately, many store bought items have synthetic ingredients that are not good for our skin and health. I found that it’s always best to make your own skincare products, if you have the time and knowhow, because you’d know exactly what’s in the products. Thank you for reaching out and for entering NaturallyHandcrafted.com‘s very first Wednesday Giveaways!
I would really like to try this product.

I use activated charcoal in my toothpaste. I think it’s great in soap.
I posted an all natural toothpaste recipe a few months back. I’ve never tried using activated charcoal in my toothpaste. What a great suggestion. I will give it a try. Thanks!
About to try and make this soap, wish me luck. Hope to wine a couple of bars so I know what to expect.
